Blog Week 3 Part A

 1.

Craiglist

  • Potential problems for visitors might be that this website seems very cluttered and overwhelming, it is hard to navigate, and it is a very plain and boring layout.
  • I would say this was definitely not created with the end user in mind because every main category and item is laid out in one page and it can get very overwhelming or confusing to find the section they would need.
  • Something that might help this website is not putting everything on one page and using more headers, colors, and fonts.

  • A potential problem for visitors is not being able to find what they are looking for because everything on the website looks the exact same. Also, the big font and bright color might make them more hesitant to even want to go on the website.
  • I do not think this was created with the end user in mind. I did notice they put their logo in the top left corner which is good, but for the rest of the website, there are too many links and not enough information about what they are selling.
  • For improvement, I think they should make categories with the items that they are selling and under each item, explain what the item is and why someone might want it. Also, making the font smaller might help as well.

California Center for the Arts
  • Something this website has done right is their logo is in the top left corner, and they many different pictures, fonts, links (with pictures, not just a blue url).
  • Right at the top of the website, they have many links with what visitors might be looking for. Also, they have their contact information at the top, and a menu with other information. They also have their social media linked at the bottom.
  • I am definitely more likely to want to go to a website like this one than the two previous websites. It is also much easier to navigate the website with their menu.

  • Something this website has done right is they have their logo in the top left corner, a main color scheme, and their social media at the bottom.
  • These websites were designed with the end user in mind because they are very easy and straight forward to navigate, and to easily find the services someone may be looking for.
  • Their design, aesthetic, and branding impacts me because it looks very clean and intentional. It also makes it easy on the customer to find what they are looking for. It is easy to find their contact information and social media as well, in case anyone needs help or has questions.

This definitely helped me realize just how important design and aesthetic is for a website and if a website is lacking this, how much it impacts the customer to not want to come back to the website.
