Week 3 Part B

I have been working on my mom's social media accounts for her brand for a while now and have learned a lot about what goes into developing a brand that will be memorable and appealing. We do have a logo, and we put it in the corner or the bottom of every social media post we do so that people not only know what brand it is that they are looking at, but also so they remember it by seeing it more often. We do not have a tagline because we do not feel it is necessary to convey what we want it to.

We have a color scheme of about four or five different colors that we theme all of our posts on. We also switch which colors we use every post so that it gives a bit of variation to our social media accounts. A few of the colors, like the light and dark blues, come from the main colors of the salons that my mom owned for a few years. Then, we added a bright yellow and pink to make the social media pop.

We have three different fonts that we use. There is a bolder font, a thinner font, and then a sort of cursive, more flashy font. We usually only use the first two since the cursive, decorative font is generally more difficult to read so we use it sparingly.

We put our logo on every business card that we make. We have made some with my mom's face on it, and we have made some with just an aesthetic picture in the background instead. We do try to make the business cards to look a little bit more unique and different than everyone else's. For example, we had some one time that had more rounded edges instead of just a plain rectangle. Also, we experimented with putting the font vertically instead of horizontally.

So far, we have not made any sort of merchandise for our brand because it is not generally the type of brand that customers would want merchandise for. It is a podcast and YouTube channel for mainly salon owners, so as of right now with the fairly small audience we have, we do not feel the need to produce a lot of shirts, mugs, etc.

I have learned a lot in the short time that I have worked on this business, and majority of it is relative common sense. When you really think about all of these things, it makes a lot of sense. It is strange to me that businesses and brands do not put a lot of effort into their website and social media since that is potentially the first glimpse of your brand that a lot of people will be seeing.
