Week 6 Part A

The businesses I chose to like on Facebook were:

  • Starbucks 
  • Better Buzz Coffee
  • Philz Coffee
  • Dunkin'
  • Sleeping Tiger Coffees
  • Baba Coffee
  • Lofty Coffee
I chose the first four businesses because they are popular coffee shop chains that would be our competition. It would be even more difficult to persuade the customers of these businesses to try our coffee shop since they are so loved and well known. The last three coffee shops are in Carlsbad Village, where our coffee shop would be. These are different since they are so close, so we would have to really analyze what it is that they are doing, and try to take those strategies and apply them to our coffee shop. 
The more popular chains (the first four) generally post fairly regularly on Facebook and have aesthetically pleasing posts. On the other hand, Sleeping Tiger has not posted since 2020. Most of these businesses use mainly pictures as their posts, but sometimes videos too. Philz Coffee, for example, uses bright colors and emojis to grab their audience's attention. For my coffee shop, I think it is just important to post frequently and consistently. Second to that, creating posts that are attention-grabbing and bright is definitely important too. Also, it seems like the more popular, chain coffee shops do not only post things about their coffee necessarily. They will post more fun, almost meme-like, posts to appeal to their younger audiences. This is definitely a good strategy, however I think it can get overused or lame easily as well.
